Finding funding can be a constant source of problems. Things like a companies size, workforce and organisational strategy can all be factors in ruling you in or out of a schemes assistance.
Schemes can also change regularly making it harder to find the correct sources. For example the well known "Smart Scheme" has been replaced by a "Grant for Investigating an Innovative Idea" and the "Teaching Company Scheme (TCS)" has also been replaced by "Knowledge Transfer Partnerships".
The geographical area a company is placed in can also affect the support mechanisms open to it as some communities and local businesses need more support then others.
Business Link is produced by the the Small Business Service (SBS), an agency of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). It is through this branding that support is provided to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) with impartial advice. The information available ranges from IT systems advice to international trading and funding. Business Link have created a searchable database of all funding and grant schemes on their new website which can be found at.
